Women to be self-dependent, have secure earnings and contribute to family’s income.
ABOUT US
The Sardarni Kartar Kaur Education Society (SKK) is a non-profit organisation registered under the Societies & Registration Act of 1860 . It was started in 2002 by Late. Brig. Jagir Singh in the memory of his wife, Sardarni Kartar Kaur to continue her life long commitment to help underprivileged women. The ethos of the trust is to empower women by skilling them in sewing and stitching and supporting them to set up their own self-sustaining micro-enterprises. This leads to their economic independence and enhances their ability to support their families financially.

Our Work
Our center empowers women through education, skilling mentorship opportunities to earn an income. We believe that women empowerment, represented in our logo, will help women not only to acquire a valuable skill but also gain the confidence to pursue their dreams, contribute to their communities, and inspire others. Our Triple E model includes strategies focused on education, empowerment, experiences and the exploration of new, sustainable opportunities to earn a living.
Our free 6-month intensive tailoring program serves as a catalyst for women's careers, providing not only sewing and stitching skills but also general life and entrepreneurial training. This empowerment enhances their economic independence, self-sufficiency, and confidence, opening new opportunities for them to contribute to their communities.
Our program helps women experience significant positive changes in their lives. Many secure employment in factories, contributing to household income and gaining financial independence. Some become entrepreneurs, starting their own businesses and creating job opportunities within their communities. Working with organizations like Silai Wilai further enhances their skills, giving them access to larger markets and sustainable income .
Empowerment comes from the ability to transform one's life. Through our program, women gain not only the skills but also the tools to become self-reliant. By mastering stitching and sewing, they can start their own businesses, contribute to their household income, and achieve financial independence. This newfound autonomy helps them take control of their futures and make empowered choices.
To create a society where every woman and girl has the skills and opportunities to achieve financial independence and self-sufficiency, contributing to their communities and breaking the cycle of poverty through sustainable, skill-based education.
To empower underprivileged women and girls of all ages by providing free sewing and stitching education, fostering economic independence, and enhancing their self-reliance and confidence.

“I always dreamed of contributing to my family’s income but never had the opportunity. After completing the Silai School training, I started designing garments and taking custom orders. My business is thriving now, and I’ve even started training other women in my village. Seeing their confidence grow gives me immense joy.”

“As a widow, I faced endless challenges. Silai School didn’t just teach me sewing—it gave me a lifeline. With my own sewing business, I can now support my family. I’ve also become a Local Resource Person, training other women and helping them find opportunities to improve their lives. It feels amazing to lead and give back to my community.”
